This Southtown spot was ranked one of the best wedding venues in San Antonio

With a picturesque garden spanning nearly an acre in downtown San Antonio, it is no wonder Ivy Hall Events in Southtown was named by Wedding Wire as one of the best spots in San Antonio to get married.

Though the venue has only been in operation for about a year, it won the 2020 Couple’s Choice award from the wedding website, partly based on guest reviews about it’s beautiful outdoor space and friendly staff.

Despite being in the middle of a pandemic, the venue’s owner Tim McDiarmid said reservations have nearly doubled for the rest of the year and into 2021 because of the award.

“The recognition has been fabulous,” McDiarmid said. “We have been trying to figure out how to continue to market during a pandemic and something like that has been great for us.”

The Wedding Wire is an international wedding database for couples to find professionals, venues and more for their big day.

Because of the large outdoor space, Ivy Hall Events is a good place for couples to celebrate while following social distancing measures.

McDiarmid said many of their new reservations come from couples who can no longer have their destination wedding, but still want a luxurious setting. McDiarmid said Ivy Hall has is a “unique oasis” comparable to the Hill Country venues, but with a city feel.

“You don’t have to go far to have your wedding, we have a beautiful space with curate gardens,” McDiarmid said. “You don’t even need to really pay for decorations because it’s beautiful and the photos always look gorgeous.”
